Perrie Edwards has announced her solo debut album, simply titled Perrie.
Perrie Edwards delighted fans last week by dropping a brand new single and also announcing her solo debut album. Perrie posted the announcement on her Instagram, saying that it “feels like a dream”.
Perrie released her new single If He Wanted To He Would last Friday, giving fans a glimpse into how her solo album is going to sound. It has been dubbed as sounding very similar to her former girl group sound.
Perrie found fame in the girl band Little Mix, who were formed on The X Factor in 2011 and grew to become one of the biggest and most successful girl bands. Perrie parted ways with her bandmates, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, after going on an indefinite hiatus in 2022 with all girls since releasing solo music.
Perrie first released solo music in April 2024, with her debut song Forget About Us. This was closely followed by Tears and You Go Your Way. She has since confirmed that Forget About Us and You Go Your Way will be included in her upcoming album.
Her most recent track, If He Wanted To He Would, is also confirmed to be on the album. The song was co-written by Nina Nesbitt, and the lyrics discuss a toxic relationship. The accompanying music video has clearly been inspired by several rom-com films, including ‘The Holiday’, watch it below.
Perrie also recently spoke to NME about how she scrapped her solo album at the end of last year because she wasn’t happy with the music she was making. She wanted to make music that felt more “authentic” to her, and that is exactly what this album is going to be. She went on to say:
I absolutely love the album I have created, and I’m really proud of it.
Perrie’s self-titled debut album is due for release on 26th September.
The album release is coming only a few weeks after ex-bandmate Jade Thirlwall plans to release her debut album, That’s Showbiz Baby!, on 12th September.
