Nathan Sykes has dropped yet another single, ahead of his sophomore solo album which is due for release next month.
Nathan Sykes is back with new solo music, after 8 years. Last week, he released the new track Butterflies, as a follow-up to his return to music with Getting Lost.
Butterflies is a fantastic summery pop song, that delves into the physical feeling of getting butterflies when spending time with somebody. It speaks of a feeling we can all relate to and offers a catchy upbeat rhythm alongside it. The song has quite a unique pop synth sound, however it does also feel familiar. It certainly wouldn’t be out of place on a new pop playlist.
Nathan says of Butterflies:
It’s about that feeling you get in your stomach; nervous, excited, giddy – thinking about someone new, someone you’ve known forever and the fun that person brings. The song came together quickly once we got there and it just as quickly sticks in everyone’s heads who hears it – it’s one of my favourite moments of the album and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.
The track was co-written with David Sneddon, who has written for Lana Del Ray and Lewis Capaldi, and Theo Hutchcraft, who has worked with Måneskin and Calvin Harris. Butterflies was also produced by Tobie Tripp, who has produced for the likes of George Ezra and Tom Grennan, and mixed by Steve Fitzmaurice, who has worked with Sam Smith in the past. Talk about a world-class team!
Nathan’s new music has been long-awaited and has of course been received extremely well by his patient fans. He first rose to fame in 2010s boyband, The Wanted. The popular boyband went on to achieve global success. They even reunited in 2021 and toured in 2022 to celebrate their success as a band, shortly before bandmate Tom Parker tragically passed away.

As well as releasing two brand new singles, Nathan is gearing up to release his sophomore album next month. Ultraviolet is due out on 17th October, and is now available to pre-order and pre-save. This album follows Nathan’s debut album, Unfinished Business, from 2016.
Following Nathan’s in-demand return to live music earlier this year, he will also be headlining two more shows in October. One on 29th October at the Deaf Institute in Manchester, and one on 30th October at the O2 Academy Islington in London. Tickets can be found here.
You can listen to Butterflies now. You can also pre-order, or pre-save, Nathan’s new album Ultraviolet here.
