Absnt Mind’s latest single is really thought-provoking and shows off a different side to the up and coming boyband.
Absnt Mind released their latest single, Allestree Lane, at the end of January and it is a track full of emotion, that is still playing on my mind now. The track was co-written by all five members of the band (Freddie, Oscar, Alex, Conor and Ashton), alongside The 1975’s Jamie Squire. The band have been writing with Jamie in both London and at The 1975’s Newcastle studio.
The acoustic song is an interesting release from the up and coming boyband. It is centred around the pain of having to move away from the family home when circumstances change – something that one of the members of the band, Freddie, has personally had to deal with. Listening to it forces you to slow down and listen intently to the touching lyrics. The soothing vocals and the soft acoustic tones really carry the song through, it’s brilliant.
Allestree Lane is an incredibly reflective song, very personal too. I believe it shows off a different side to Absnt Mind, but it proves their musical abilities have no limit.
Freddie says of Allestree Lane:
This was an emotional trip down memory lane for me… Sitting down with Jamie and the boys writing this song was so raw. I never realised quite how much the whole moving home thing had affected me and writing this song… became an emotional process I wasn’t expecting.
Need we remind you that Absnt Mind have already had incredible support recently from the likes of BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1, NME, MTV and Official Charts – just to name a few. The band is super talented so it’s no surprise to see the support rolling in from such huge brands.
If you’d like further proof on just how talented the five-some are, watch below their recent live cover of Rein Me In (Sam Fender and Olivia) for BBC Introducing.
